Report: ‘Streaming Is Destroying Piracy’

Analyst Barton Crockett of Lazard Capital Markets says he was surprised that churn, or the rate of subscriber cancellations, declined in the quarter, leading the company to surpass his estimates for customer gains. “This, plus guidance for more churn improvement in 2010, argues that the streaming feature is improving [subscriber] loyalty, something not at all evident in earnings reports to date,” Crockett says in a note.
