Research: Residential Broadband Speeds Increase 28% In ’09

February 9, 2010 · Posted in Connections, M&E Daily

U.S. consumers’ average broadband speed at home increased by 28% in 2009, to 7.12Mbps, reports research firm In-Stat. “Today’s broadband service subscriber is becoming increasingly aware of the capabilities, and the limitations, of their broadband connection,” says the firm’s Mike Paxton. “More and more broadband subscribers know the speed of their broadband connections—or at least they know the speed claims made by their broadband service provider.”

In-Stat also notes that more than one quarter of residential broadband subscribers have a wireless broadband connection in addition to their “wired” broadband connection. By In-Stat
