New York becomes the 22nd state to pass an “electronic waste” law to combat the growing stream of junked consumer electronics and computer accessories. The law requires manufacturers of DVD players and other consumer electronics to recycle or re-use their market share of electronic waste by weight. States have initiated their own respective e-waste programs following several unsuccessful attempts to pass legislation in Congress. By AP
