Online Video Viewers: Up From a Year Ago, but Down from the Fall
Online video sites attracted 181 million viewers during January 2012, according to comScore, representing continuation of a modest sequential decline in total viewership since October, 2011 (via StreamingMedia.com), but a six percent year-over-year increase (via Home Media Magazine).
Google sites (namely YouTube) generated the highest number online video views during January 2012, with 18.6 billion, followed by Hulu with 877 million and music video provider Vevo with 717 million. The average viewer watched 22.6 hours of online video content, with Google Sites (7.5 hours) and Hulu (3.2 hours) demonstrating the highest average engagement among comScore’s top ten online video properties.
