A New Anti-Piracy Weapon: The Invincible In-Game Scorpion

Game developer Croteam’s shooter title “Serious Sam 3” is several months old, but the novelty of its anti-piracy approach hasn’t worn off. As reported late last year by various gamer sites, those who play unauthorized copies of the game find their character repeatedly attacked by an invincible scorpion.

“Some companies’ DRM is stupidly cruel, punishing only those who have legitimately purchased the game,” observes PC gaming site Rock Paper Shotgun. “Serious Sam 3′s DRM is brilliantly cruel, punishing only those who pirated it.” More on video game companies’ anti-piracy creativity at Kotaku Australia.
