Watchwith Teams with Ramp for Film and TV Metadata Services

A new partnership between related content syndication services provider Watchwith and automated metadata creation platform Ramp aims to make the development of time-based metadata — key to second-screen apps and social TV experiences — faster and easier for movie studios and television programmers.

Under the terms of the partnership, the companies will integrate Ramp’s content optimization platform, MediaCloud, with Watchwith’s platform for the creation, control, and distribution of time-based metadata, to support new consumer experiences around film, television, and commercials. The two companies plan to sell and support each other’s existing products, while co-developing new products and services.

The companies state that their combined set of APIs will enable application developers to produce and manage multiple layers of contextual and experiential metadata, and to easily add custom metadata to individual videos and entire video collections.

Watchwith chief executive Zane Vella tells M&E Daily that Ramp’s automated platform complements the human-annotated movie and TV scene-based metadata of Watchwith’s Related Content Database.

“Our expert team has done exhaustive research to find the highest quality automation partner, and RAMP’s speed, accuracy, and flexibility are unparalleled in the market,” Vella says.
