Disney, Comcast Offer Mobile TV Streaming With Authenticated Apps
Customers of Comcast’s Xfinity TV service who subscribe to Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior networks as part of their monthly video service can now watch live streams of the channels on their iPads and iPhones, as Comcast and Disney/ABC Television Group launch three new authenticated apps for Apple mobile devices.
The new Disney apps provide authenticated users with access to live, linear network streams as well as a selection of show episodes on demand in an “advantaged window.” Non-authenticated users of the free apps, meanwhile, have access to a limited number of on demand episodes each month.
The new apps follow Disney’s launch of an ESPN streaming service with Comcast earlier this year, part of the companies’ long-term distribution agreement.
