Four In 10 Play Mobile Games in U.S. and UK: PopCap
Some 44 percent of U.S. and UK adults have played at least one mobile game in the past month, and 45 percent of mobile gamers play on a daily basis, according to a new survey by “Bejeweled” and “Plants Vs. Zombies” publisher PopCap Games.
PopCap, a division of EA, finds that the mobile games market in the U.S. and UK combined now stands at 125 million. The market is continuing to grow, with 44 percent of mobile gamers considering themselves new players, compared to 22 percent in 2009.
Opportunity abounds on tablets for mobile game publishers, PopCap adds. More than one third of mobile gamers (36 percent) now own a tablet, and 74 percent of the tablet gamers did not play mobile games previously.
