Microsoft Set To Unveil Tablet Today: Reports
The consensus among the tech press is that Microsoft will be launching its own branded tablet in Los Angeles Monday afternoon (see The Washington Post). But sites differ in their speculation over what services the tablet may offer.
The device could see integration of Xbox Live streaming services — which would represent a platform expansion for Microsoft’s console-based video game brand (via Benzinga). While TechCrunch expects the device to incorporate e-reading functions in a deal with Barnes & Noble — which would build upon Microsoft’s recent “strategic partnership” with the book retailer — other tech sites report that Barnes & Noble plays no part in today’s tablet announcement (see Business Insider).
