3D TV: Wimbledon Highlights

The Wimbledon tennis tournament offered another high-profile demonstration of what 3D TV could bring to live sports, as broadcasters prepare for their next showcase of the technology at the London Olympics.

But as 3D television producers refine their approach to shooting live sporting events (via PC Advisor), audience growth remains a long-term question (via 3D Focus). The Wimbledon coverage earned a mixed review from The Guardian, whose commentator first had to find his 3D glasses.

Meanwhile, standards work on 3D TV continues, with the Consumer Electronics Association issuing technical guidelines that would enable 3D TV viewers to switch 3D and 2D programming while wearing active-shutter glasses (via Fierce Cable).
