JVC Joins Blu-ray Patent Pool
JVC Kenwood Corp. announced Oct. 17 that it was joining Cyberlink, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Panasonic, Philips, and Sony in the One-Blue joint patent licensing program for Blu-ray products.
JVC, said One-Blue chief executive Roel Kramer in a statement “adds valuable essential patents to the program, further underlining the one-stop-shop concept of One-Blue.” The licensing agent launched its Blu-ray patent pool in July, with an aim to reduce licensing costs for the optical disc industry. One-Blue continues to offer past-use discounts on royalties to companies that execute a licensing agreement on or before December 31, 2011.
